Samsung Sells a $799 Galaxy Book6 Without Copilot+

Samsung on Tuesday added a 14-inch Galaxy Book6 that starts at $799, with a claimed 25-hour battery and an Intel NPU rated at 15 TOPS. That figure is less than half the 40 TOPS Microsoft sets for a Copilot+ PC.

The new SKU still wears the Book6 name used on Core Ultra models launched after CES. Mincheol Lee, EVP and head of the Galaxy Ecosystems Business Team, said the goal was to put the Galaxy Book experience in front of more people at a lower price, with everyday performance, a long charge, and the family’s design language.

Samsung Sells the Book6 Name at $799

This is an expansion of an existing line, not a new generation. The Galaxy Book6 family arrived in January with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 chips, and the 14-inch IPS model already claimed up to 24 hours from the same 61.2Wh pack. Trusted Reviews put that Core Ultra Book6 a little over $1,050 in the US. Tuesday’s machine is the cut-price lid.

Hardware sites already file it as an Intel Wildcat Lake design, sold as Core 3 and Core 5 Series 3, rather than another Panther Lake Ultra. That reading matches Samsung’s own processor line, which names Core 3 and Core 5 and skips the Ultra badge. India Today converted the $799 start to about Rs 75,800 and noted that Indian debut details are still unannounced.

Violet Silver is new to Galaxy Book. Gray is the other color. Lee’s line about confidence that lasts beyond the purchase sits next to a spec sheet that also lists a non-backlit “Pro keyboard” and a clickpad, not the haptic pad on the Pro.

15 TOPS Buys the 25-Hour Rating

Samsung’s global newsroom rates this laptop’s Intel NPU at up to 15 TOPS and pairs that with a claim of up to 25 hours of battery life from the 61.2Wh pack. The footnote is thinner than the one on the January Book6, which spelled out local 1080p video at 150 nits, airplane mode, and a run down to 2%. This release only says typical capacity was lab-tested and that actual life varies with settings and use.

Microsoft’s Copilot+ developer guide still defines that class as Windows 11 hardware with an NPU above 40 trillion operations per second. Intel, presenting Wildcat Lake at Hot Chips on August 24, described Core Series 3 as right-sized AI for price-sensitive laptops, with an NPU delivering up to 17 TOPS on a 2P+4E 18A package. Samsung’s “up to 15 TOPS” line is the lower end of that family, in the range of Core 5 315 and Core 3 304 parts, not the Core 7 360’s 17 TOPS ceiling.

The 25-hour number and the 15 TOPS cap are the same design choice. A quieter chip and a 350-nit LCD are how a 61.2Wh pack gets a higher hour claim than the Core Ultra 14-inch Book6 that uses the same battery size for 24 hours. Samsung has also been talking battery gains on the Galaxy S26 FE this month, so the hour count is now a house message across phones and this cheaper Book.

THREE 14-INCH BOOK6 MACHINES

Copilot+ also asks for 16GB of RAM. The $799 base ships with 8GB, so the machine misses that floor even before the TOPS math. Configure 16GB and you still have a 15 TOPS NPU.

What This Galaxy Book6 Leaves Off

The January 14-inch Book6 already used an IPS panel at 350 nits. The new SKU keeps that class of screen and then trims ports, radios, and typing extras that still appear on other Book6 machines.

CUTS ON THE $799 SKU

• Backlight: Samsung’s spec lists a Pro keyboard that is non-backlit, a rare miss on an $800 Windows laptop.
• Ports: Two USB-C ports with matching functions, one USB-A, HDMI 1.4 (4K at 30Hz), and a 3.5mm jack. The January 14-inch sheet still listed a second USB-A, microSD, RJ45, and an S-Lock slot.
• Radio: Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. Intel’s Core Series 3 brief includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, so this is a Samsung board choice, not a silicon limit.
• Pad and glass: A clickpad instead of the Pro’s haptic pad, and LCD instead of the Pro’s 2880 x 1800 AMOLED.

Digital Trends, covering the US listings, also flagged the dark keyboard and said American buyers get 256GB or 512GB, even though the global sheet still prints 1TB. Treat that as a regional cut until Samsung.com puts the SKUs up.

Galaxy AI Still Needs a Samsung Account

Samsung is not selling this as a Copilot+ PC. It is selling Galaxy AI on a Book6 lid. The named tools are AI Select, AI Cut out, and Note Assist, plus the usual Galaxy device links: Quick Share, Storage Share, Multi Control, Second Screen, Nearby Devices, and Link to Windows.

Those AI tools are the same family of features Samsung has been spreading as Galaxy AI tools already on S26 phones. They are not Recall, Cocreator, or the other Windows features that Microsoft ties to a 40 TOPS NPU. AI Select needs an internet connection and a Samsung account. Note Assist runs on Samsung Notes text only, from 200 to 4,000 characters, and also needs a login and a network. Samsung says basic Galaxy AI features are free and that enhanced or third-party AI can carry other terms and fees.

Multi Control wants every device on one Samsung account and the same Wi-Fi, with phones and tablets on One UI 5.1.1 or later. Second Screen is limited to named Galaxy Tab S8 through S11 models (plus Tab Active4 Pro) on One UI 3.1 or later. The laptop is most useful if a Galaxy phone or tab is already on the desk. Without that, you have a $799 Windows 11 notebook with a 15 TOPS NPU and a 350-nit LCD.

MacBook Neo Got Here First

Western coverage immediately parked this SKU next to Apple’s MacBook Neo. That comparison is fair on price and hours, and it is not the whole product. Apple’s March 4 newsroom post put Neo at $599, with up to 16 hours of battery life, a 13-inch Liquid Retina panel at 2408 x 1506 and 500 nits, and a 2.7-pound (about 1.22kg) aluminum body on A18 Pro. Education pricing started at $499. The 14-inch Book6 is larger, dimmer, and heavier, with more ports and a higher hour claim on a test that Samsung has not fully published for this SKU.

BOOK6 $799 VERSUS MACBOOK NEO AT LAUNCH

Neo is fanless. The Book6 sheet does not say that. Neo has two USB-C ports only. The Book6 keeps HDMI, USB-A, and a headphone jack, which is the practical Windows argument if you still carry a monitor dongle. Hours favor Samsung on paper. Sharpness and brightness favor Apple on the published panels. Anyone buying for on-device Windows AI is in the wrong aisle on both machines if the bar is Copilot+.

Violet Silver Arrives With HDMI 1.4

The design brief is “Book6 DNA”: clean lines, a symmetrical layout, and a centered logo. At 15.7mm it is the thickest current 14-inch Book6, and at 1.35kg it is still light enough for a bag. Stereo speakers are 2W each with Dolby Atmos. The camera is 2MP with 1080p. Dual-array mics sit in the usual video-call stack.

Two USB-C ports with the same functions is the small courtesy on a machine that dropped Thunderbolt branding, microSD, and Ethernet. HDMI 1.4 at 4K30 is the tell that this chassis is built for a classroom projector, not a 120Hz monitor. The 3.5mm jack remains, which Neo also kept.

Linux shows up on the OS line as “Linux (Console only)” beside Windows 11 25H2. That is a factory image for servers and labs, not a dual-boot Ubuntu pitch. Memory is soldered LPDDR5X at 8GB or 16GB. If 8GB is the $799 hook, it is also the spec that will age first once a browser, Teams, and a couple of student tabs are open.

Select Markets First, Then a Longer Wait

Samsung says the laptop is on sale in select markets, with more regions to follow, and that colors, features, and setups can change by country. Digital Trends reported a US arrival through Samsung.com and Amazon by October 5 at $799.99. That date is not in the global newsroom post. India Today said Indian buyers still have no debut details.
