Samsung Sells the Current Galaxy S26 as a Restored Phone

Samsung on September 9 added the Galaxy S26 series to Certified Re-Newed in the UK, 182 days after the new phones went on sale. Restored Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra units are sold on Samsung.com in Black and Cobalt Violet, with the same two-year warranty as new models.

The new S26 line opened at an RRP of £879 for the 256GB Galaxy S26, £1,099 for the 256GB S26+ and from £1,279 for the Ultra. Each handset still has seven generations of OS upgrades and security updates that Samsung has dated through 2033.

The S26 Range Joins Samsung’s Own Refurbished Channel

Samsung Electronics said the three phones, its third-generation Galaxy AI models, now go through in-house checks and restore work before they return to the shop. Units are cleaned, tested, wiped of previous user data and loaded with the latest software. Where parts need replacing, Samsung says it uses genuine Samsung parts, and the mix of parts depends on the condition of each phone.

The S26 Ultra keeps Privacy Display, a built-in screen mode that limits what people beside you can read. It has to be turned on in Settings and is not an AI function. All three models keep their original cameras and Galaxy AI tools. Samsung did not publish Certified Re-Newed prices in the September 9 notice.

WHAT WE KNOW

• The channel: Restored S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra phones are sold on Samsung.com from September 9, not through UK retail partners named in the notice.
• The cover: Certified Re-Newed handsets carry the same two-year warranty as new Galaxy phones in the UK, and Care+ can be added for a fee.
• The finish: Samsung says slight external blemishes may remain if they do not affect how the phone works.

WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED

• The CRN tag: Samsung has not listed Certified Re-Newed prices for any S26 storage size.
• The IMEI step: The January UK launch said CRN phones in Britain, France and Germany get new IMEI numbers; the S26 notice does not repeat that line.
• The stock: How many top-grade returned S26 units Samsung actually has ready to sell is not public.

That missing price is the hole in the announcement. Until Samsung.com fills it, the listing is a channel decision, not a discount you can check against the new shelf.

Six Months After Launch, Most of the Software Life Remains

Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in San Francisco on February 25 unveiled the S26 line. UK pre-orders opened that day. Retail sale began on March 11. Certified Re-Newed took the same three models on September 9, two days shy of six calendar months after that on-sale date.

The software clock is why the timing bites. Samsung is promising seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates on the S26 series, a policy it first attached to the Galaxy S24 line. The S26 family is already first in line for One UI 9, the next major software drop on that clock. A restored S26 sold in September 2026 is not a short-life leftover. It is a current flagship with support Samsung has dated through 2033.

THE S26 PATH INTO RE-NEWED

1. January 13, 2026: Opens Certified Re-Newed in the UK, France and Germany with the Galaxy S25 series after earlier runs in the United States and South Korea.
2. January 19, 2026: Lets UK CRN buyers add Samsung Care+ on restored flagships.
3. March 11, 2026: Puts new Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra phones on UK sale after the February 25 Unpacked show.
4. September 9, 2026: Adds those three S26 models to the UK Certified Re-Newed shop on Samsung.com.
5. November 17, 2026: Brings manufacturers, refurbishers and networks to Hilton London Bankside for Circular Summit.

When the UK programme opened in January, the S25 series was already the previous flagship. The S26 listing is different. It puts this year’s phones into Samsung’s own second-life channel while they are still the current S range.

What a Certified Re-Newed Galaxy S26 Includes

Samsung is not opening every colour or every shop. New S26 phones launched in Cobalt Violet, White, Black and Sky Blue, plus Pink Gold and Silver Shadow as Samsung.com exclusives. Certified Re-Newed is Black and Cobalt Violet only. Storage follows the new range: 256GB and 512GB on S26 and S26+, with 1TB added on the Ultra.

S26 CERTIFIED RE-NEWED CONFIGS

The restore pitch is the same two-year warranty as new phones, 100 percent genuine Samsung parts, a Samsung-certified battery checked to perform like a new cell, and latest software. Phones are unlocked. The UK shop says every Certified Re-Newed Galaxy comes in a new box with a charging cable, user manual and ejector pin. A wall charger is not on that list, which matches how new Galaxy phones have shipped for years.

THE RESTORE STEPS SAMSUNG LISTS

• Grade gate: In the UK, France and Germany, only top-grade returned products qualify for the CRN process, a limit Samsung set when it opened those markets in January.
• Checks: In-house inspection includes cleaning and, on the January UK launch, more than 100 quality tests before a unit is approved for resale.
• Parts: Screens, cameras, speakers, sensors, NFC and antennas can be swapped for genuine Samsung parts if they fail or look wrong.
• Data and software: Previous user data is wiped and the latest software is installed before the phone is boxed.
• Box and extras: Recyclable new packaging and the same in-box items as a new device, per the January UK launch, with Care+ sold as an extra.

Samsung’s own comparison chart on the UK CRN page is blunt about third-party restored phones. It credits generic refurbished units with software updates and withholds manufacturer warranty, genuine parts, a certified battery and a rigorous quality test from that column.

January’s S25 Ultra CRN Price Shows the Discount Size

Without an S26 CRN tag, the only hard UK number is last season’s flagship. In January, Samsung’s UK Certified Re-Newed store listed the 512GB Galaxy S25 Ultra at £1,153 against £1,349 new, a gap of £196. That is 14.5 percent under the new RRP, not a half-price bin.

THE JANUARY UK CRN BENCHMARK

If the S26 CRN cut lands in that same band off RRP, a restored Ultra would still sit near a four-figure cheque. Samsung’s new S26 Ultra page, meanwhile, was already stacking a £300 upgrade bonus and a guaranteed £150 off for any smartphone trade-in. Those new-phone extras shrink the room a restored unit has to look cheap against a discounted new one.

That pattern is the objection that has followed Certified Re-Newed since it left Korea and the United States. Official restored prices tend to hug the new tag, especially once Samsung’s own bonuses land on the new shelf. The product Samsung is selling in that gap is cover: a two-year warranty, genuine parts and a Samsung-certified battery, not the lowest S26 on the open market.

Trade-In Phones Now Feed Samsung’s Second-Life Shelf

The UK CRN page asks buyers to trade in a device “and help us give it a new life as a Samsung Certified Re-Newed device.” That sentence is the supply chain. Samsung pays a trade-in credit on the way in, restores top-grade returns in house, and sells the phone again with new-phone warranty on the way out. It keeps Grade A units inside its own shop instead of releasing them to independent restorers.

The January UK, France and Germany rules still shape what independents can get. Only top-grade returned products go into CRN there. Devices are reset, boxed as new, and, in those three markets at launch, issued new IMEI numbers. Samsung said that package “distinguishes them from third-party refurbished or secondhand devices.” The S26 notice repeats the in-house process and the two-year warranty. It does not mention IMEI again, and it does not name any UK shop besides Samsung.com.

A UK Shop Already Lists a Restored S26 at £732.99

The bargain end of the S26 market did not wait for Samsung’s certificate. PhonesDirect, a UK seller, listed a restored Galaxy S26 at £732.99 against £816.99 it called the new price, with a free 12-month warranty and Phonecheck certification. That is a different product from CRN: shorter cover, no Samsung-certified battery promise, and no manufacturer two-year warranty. It is also a lot closer to a mid-range cheque than Samsung’s new RRP of £879.

CRN AGAINST A TYPICAL RESTORED PHONE

Samsung has also used extras to move new S26 stock on its own store, including a free Chromebook offer on new Galaxy S26 buys. A shopper who wants the lowest outlay still has those new-phone stacks, plus independent restored listings, before CRN becomes the rational ticket. CRN is the path for someone who wants Samsung’s name on the warranty and the battery, and who will pay for that name.

Independent restorers still have plenty of lower-grade handsets, cracked units and older Galaxies to work on. What they lose is the cream: the lightly used, top-grade S26 returns that Samsung now routes through its own plant. That is the quiet transfer inside a “more affordable flagship” headline.

The Aftermarket Argument Heads to Bankside in November

Samsung’s next public date on this fight is already in the diary. The Circular Summit on 17 November at Hilton London Bankside is in its fourth year and is billed for 200-plus attendees and 20-plus speakers from networks, manufacturers, refurbishers, insurers and marketplaces. The agenda lists OEM strategies for longer device lifecycles, and a session on competing for stock, sellers and trust. John Coleman of Samsung is due on the OEM circularity panel, on repair, refurbishment and how long a phone should live.

By then the S26 CRN prices will either be on Samsung.com or the listing will have proved to be a thin, on-and-off stock channel like the early S25 CRN shop, which at one point showed the Ultra in the UK and the smaller models as unavailable. The September 9 decision already answers the industrial question. Samsung is willing to sell this year’s flagship as a restored phone, with most of a seven-year software life still ahead, and to feed that shelf from its own trade-in pipe.
